Dr. Zhi-Pei Liang earned his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1989 and joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he currently serves as the Franklin W. Woeltge Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and leads the Computational Imaging Group at the Beckman Institute. His research focuses on magnetic resonance imaging, signal processing, and machine learning. A Fellow of IEEE, ISMRM, and AIMBE, he has received numerous prestigious awards including the ISMRM Gold Medal and IEEE EMBS Technical Achievement Award. He is a member of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering and the US National Academy of Inventors, and has served as IEEE EMBS President.
